A sudden fire broke out around 3 p.m. on Friday in Block-F (TV Tower area) of Camp-7, Kutupalong Rohingya Refugee Camp, creating panic among residents before it was brought under control.
Quick Response Prevents Casualties
According to local sources, the blaze spread rapidly through several shelters but was quickly contained by community volunteers and the Camp Fire Response Team. Fortunately, no deaths or injuries were reported.
A resident told Rohingya Khobor, “Everyone rushed to help. We used buckets of water and sand until the fire was put out.”
Recurring Fire Risks in the Camps
The incident has once again highlighted the extreme vulnerability of refugee shelters to fire, particularly during the dry season. Residents and camp leaders have urged authorities and humanitarian agencies to strengthen fire prevention measures and improve emergency response capacity in the camps.
