A fire broke out in Camp 05, Block E, Sub Block E4 on February 17, 2026, at around 3:30 pm, destroying 23 shelters and partially damaging six others, local sources said.
According to residents, a total of 29 households were affected by the incident. Among those who lost their shelters was a family that had recently arrived in the camp. Families were seen trying to recover belongings from the remains of their burned homes after the fire was brought under control.
The Majhi of the area, Md. Younus, confirmed the incident and said the fire spread rapidly due to the highly flammable materials used in constructing the shelters.
There have been no confirmed reports of deaths or injuries. However, affected families have lost their shelters and basic household items and are in urgent need of emergency assistance, including temporary shelter, food, clothing, and essential supplies.
The cause of the fire has not yet been officially confirmed. Authorities and humanitarian organizations are expected to assess the damage and arrange support for those affected.
