Today four Rohingya children died in a landmine blast in Hteik Tu Pauk village, Buthidaung Township, northern Rakhine (Arakan) State. According to the villagers, the victims were gathering firewood near their village after school. While they were walking in the nearby bush, they stepped on the landmine which immediately exploded causing fatal death of Yasin Ullah (10) and Adu Rahman. The other two Mamod Amin (8) and Arof Ullah died on the way to the hospital. Three of the children were taken to Buthidaung General Hospital and the other three who were seriously injured were taken to Maungdaw hospital.
According to an unconfirmed source, the landmines were planted there by the Arakan Army (AA) after the Myanmar military left that place two days ago.
