On 22nd June, Tuesday, 2021 the police arrested fourteen Rohingya refugees including children and women fleeing from Bhasanchar.
Mirsarai Upazila Jorarganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nur Hossain Mamun confirmed the arrest.
The OC said 14 Rohingyas escaped from Bhasanchar yesterday (June 22), 14 on May 30 and 10 on May 31 in fishing trawlers. Police arrested all of them with the help of locals.
Police said they were fleeing by paying large sum of money to fishing trawler owners or fishermen. On Tuesday, brokers brought 14 Rohingya with a fishing trawler directly from Bhasanchar to Mirsarai Bangabandhu Economic Zone. When the officials in charge of the economic zone saw the Rohingyas and informed the police, the police came and arrested them.
A case has been registered with Jorarganj police station against the detainees with relevant charge.
