On Tuesday, a two-day open e-conference was organized by Actionaid, and others titled “Connecting the Rohingya Diaspora: Highlighting the Global Displacement” and it’s objective was to raise the issue of the plight of Rohingyas in Myanmar and also to share Rohingya Diaspora around the world by connecting Rohingyas from inside and outside Myanmar.
The chief guest was Mr Masud bin Moment, Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh and Mr Cherno Marenah who is the Solicitor General and Legal Secretary the Ministry of Justice, Government of the Republic of the Gambia. During the conference, Mr Cherno said, “We are working extremely hard along with international lawyers.”
Marenah also mentioned that the Gambia always takes the lead when it comes to humanitarian crises, and they are especially active in the African continent. The Bangladesh Foreign Secretary expressed concerns over the possibility of conflict if the crisis prolongs. He urged the international community to put pressure on Myanmar to achieve peaceful repatriation of the Rohingya refugees.
