As previously reported by Rohingya Khobor (RK), Fortify Rights, an international non governmental organisation filed a complaint with German Prosecutors in January 2023. The victims in the case were 16 people from Myanmar, including 2 Rohingya victims, who alleged that genocide and crimes against humanity have taken place.
Unfortunately on November 30th it has been reported that the German Prosecutors have declined to investigate the matter. Fortify Rights CEO, Matt Smith, stated that while the organization is disappointed with the decision, “We remain confident in the evidence and legal arguments in the complaint, and indeed, the German Federal Prosecutor’s office made clear that its decision was not based on the merits or strength of the evidence.”
