Following a tremendous onslaught on the headquarters of the 15th Military Operations Command (MOC-15), which had been under siege by the AA fighters for several days, hundreds of junta troops, including the deputy division commander, along with their families surrendered to the Arakha Army (AA).
In a video that was made public on Monday, the AA asserted that people whose lives were turned in were saved. The AA fighters are currently pursuing the surviving junta soldiers who were able to escape after hundreds of them were slain in the struggle to seize MOC-15.
According to the AA film, a large number of Muslims who had military training were among the junta soldiers.
Four important military outposts, including the headquarters of the 15th Military Operations Command (MOC-15) and four more battalions in the Buthidaung area, were entirely overrun by the AA fighters on May 4. Additionally, AA now controls the Kyee Kan Pyin border guard police headquarters in Maungdaw Township.
Several light infantry battalions in Buthidaung as well as the headquarters of the 15th Military Operations Command (MOC-15) were taken over by the AA fighters. Additionally, they have taken control of a number of key sites, including as Maungdaw’s military barracks, border guard police battalions, and hilltop camps.
Political specialists in Rakhine now predict that the regions of Buthidaung and Maungdaw will fall quickly.
132 junta soldiers fled to Bangladesh on May 4 and 5, taking their guns with them as the fighting intensified in both areas.
