The 16th Armed Police Battalion (APBN) seized a large quantity of illegally stored goods from a warehouse in the Leda area of Teknaf on Monday evening. Authorities reported that some Rohingya individuals were illegally stockpiling relief items for resale, prompting the operation after secret intelligence reports.
The raid was carried out around 8:30 PM near the Leda IOM hospital under the guidance of the Commanding Officer of the 16th APBN, who also serves as Deputy Inspector General. The operation was led by Leda Rohingya Camp No. 24 Camp In-Charge Mr. Shamim Al Imran, with assistance from Mr. Binan Shaim Al Imran and Camp Officer Mr. Sumanka, who also holds the rank of Police Inspector.
During the operation, officers seized 353 bags of goods and 50 liters of cooking oil. Confiscated items included 114 bags of red lentils, 66 bags of other types of pulses, 60 bags of rice, 65 packs of sugar, 48 packs of flour, as well as one weighing machine and one sealing machine.
Officials said the seized goods were documented and later handed over to the World Food Programme through the Camp In-Charge. APBN sources added that surveillance and intelligence activities will continue in the area to identify and apprehend others involved in the illegal storage and sale of relief items.
