On March 9th, 2023, the Department of Social Welfare in Sittwe conducted a three-day capacity-building training for IDP camp leaders, aiming to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage and control their respective camps. Meanwhile, the Immigration Department was also busy collecting a family census list of the Rohingya community in the Kay Pyin IDP camp.
The training sessions, held at the Social Welfare Department office in Sittwe, covered various topics related to administration, including the essential qualities and capacities required for a camp leader to lead and control an IDP camp successfully.
The Immigration Department was also gathering information in the Camp Committee Members’ office, noting down individuals above 18 years old who are qualified to be granted NVC (National Verification Card). The department’s initiative to collect a family census for the Rohingya community is another step to deny their ethnic rights as Rohingya.
