A Rohingya man was shot dead in a refugee camp under Hnila union of Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar this morning.
According to Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Osman Gani of the Teknaf Police Station, the incident happened at the Mochni registered Rohingya camp in the union at around 8:30 in the morning.
The 48-year-old deceased man lived in the Mochni Rohingya camp’s E-Block.
According to the locals and police, Alam was stopped in the morning on his way to a local arbitration meeting by five to six miscreants.
Alam was picked up and taken to a location close to a nearby school. According to the OC, he was shot in the head and instantly passed away.
We are suspecting that previous enmity might be the reason behind the killing, he added.
According to the OC, police are attempting to apprehend people connected to the event.
The body has been taken to the morgue of the Sadar Hospital in Cox’s Bazar District for an autopsy.
