Teknaf- A severely injured man has managed to escape to Bangladesh after being hacked by Buddhist nationalists in Buthidaung.
Abdus Sukkur, 40, from Kitar Bil was threatened with dire consequences by Hlun Htein personal when he voiced his opposition to the NVC scheme.
Fearing for his safety, Abdus Sukkur was going to another village on Friday when he was intercepted on the way by some Buddhist nationalists armed with sharp weapons. He was severely injured especially in the back and his right hand as the gang fell on him with their weapons.
Later other Rohingyas found him in an injured state. As it was dangerous for him to remain in the area, they helped him to cross over in to Bangladesh on the same day.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment in the MSF office in Kutupalong camp.
