A violent altercation in Rohingya Refugee Camp-1E has left a man severely injured after being attacked with a sword. The incident occurred around 12:00 PM on February 27, 2025, in Block G-15, when 28-year-old MD Rohim was assaulted by Majuma Begum, a woman from Camp-2W.
According to witnesses, the attack was sudden, and MD Rohim suffered a deep chest wound. Community members immediately rushed him to Alif Hospital in Kutupalong, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
Following the incident, Majuma Begum fled the scene and sought protection at the CIC office in Camp-2W, fearing retaliation from the community. Local police swiftly responded and arrested her, taking her into custody for further investigation.
Ongoing Investigation and Camp Security Concerns
Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the assault, and investigations are ongoing. The attack has raised concerns about security within the camp, as similar violent incidents have occurred in the past.
Camp authorities have reassured residents that necessary measures are being taken to prevent further violence and maintain peace within the refugee community. They urge all residents to report conflicts through proper channels instead of resorting to violence.
As investigations continue, local officials have emphasized the importance of ensuring justice for the injured victim while reinforcing security measures in the camp.
