Today, a destructive fire started in the heavily populated camps D1 and D2 of Rohingya in Ukhiya. The fire started in a shop and quickly spread throughout the camp, causing substantial damage and forcing a large number of residents to flee.
As of 1:58 p.m., 175 shelters had been destroyed and 50 more had been deconstructed by the fire. Thirty latrines, fifteen bathing cubicles, one Moctob, one learning center, three learning centers that had been disassembled, and four home-based learning centers were among the structures that were impacted. In addition, the fire damaged five tape stands and destroyed forty stores.
1,200 residents were left without shelter due to the fire’s rapid and intense spread, which caused great anguish and hardship. Thankfully, no deaths have been reported; nevertheless, three people were injured and sought medical assistance.
