Yesterday a Rohingya man named Md Sharif (28) son of Md Salam, a member of notorious robbery group Zakir, was killed in a gunfight with Bangladeshi Police, affirmed by Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf Police Station to the daily star. The deceased was connected with a robbery case.
According to the OC, the police found a bullet hit body lying on the ground after the gunfight while other members of the group managed to escape. The incident took place near Shalbagan Rohingya Camp in Hnila union under Teknaf Upazila last night. Also, two local firearms and seven rounds of bullets were recovered from the spot.
A Rohingya refugee said, “We are thankful to the prime minister and government of Bangladesh for taking action on criminals. We also hope more such action on Robber and criminals who terrorise us on a daily bases.”
