Yesterday, on 23 June, 2022, at 3 pm a Rohingya Muslim was arrested by the military from the Thekay Pyin market village, Sittwe township in Arakan state according to the arrestees family.
The name of the arrested person is U Salim(aka) U Maung Maung Khin, son of the U Tin Shwe from the Thetkay Pyin market village. He is 46 years old”
“At 2:30 pm some soldiers came to our house and arrested my husband,” said Mr Salim’s wife. Mr Salim’s family is worried for him and is unaware of his whereabouts.
The situation is tense in sittwe after the kidnapping of some Myanmar military personnel by the Arakan Army. The local residents especially Rohingyas are in a state of nervousness.
