People within Burma and activists related to the Rohingya cause are confirming that in Barlar village in Yangon Region’s Hlegu Township villagers found 13 dead bodies, believed to be Rohingya people, on Tabinshwehti Road. Villagers told Radio Free Asia that the people were not from the village and that reports indicated that “70 of them were arrested in Hlegu yesterday as well.”
The military junta has stated that the deceased died from a lack of oxygen while they were smuggled in the back of a truck. However, a post mortem examination at Yangon General Hospital reveals injuries such as scars on the foreheads, faces, lips, and other parts of the bodies. The 13 victims are primarily under 18 years of age. Villagers who discovered the body also reported that the bodies appeared to have been “submerged in water for a long time” even though there are no bodies of water near the area.
Another source close to the junta claims that this group was arrested on December 3rd and murdered on December 4th and their bodies were dumped on the side of the road. RK reported on this situation previously, the post can be found here.
