On 20 December early morning police arrested 112 Rohingyas, including infants, who were traveling to Malaysia from Kadongkani village of Bokalay township, after their boat drowned near Kadomblay island of Bokalay township in Irawaddy.
“Their boat capsized and drowned. They are lucky to have escaped. They sank after reaching the beach. Now they are kept at Bokalay Camp,” a source close to the police told Irrawaddy.
Among the detainees 12 are infants, 57 men and 43 are women who are being held in the custody of Bokalay city police station. Immigration is planning to prosecute them as per law.
