Hilly miscreants abducted five students of Nayapara registered camp, while visiting Nature Park in Damdamia on Monday (24 April) afternoon on the occasion of Eid.
The details of the abducted students have not known yet.
A refugee from camp said that 6 Rohingya students went to visit Nature Park in Damdamia on Eid day. In the mean time some active members of Salay Group wearing mask surrounded and abducted them at gun point. Among 6, the miscreants left a young student for he started screaming loudly. The other 5 were taken to the mountain.
The kidnappers are reportedly demanding a ransom of Tk 10 lakh for each abducted student and have even threatened to kill the abducted children if the parent does not pay by 9pm on Tuesday (April 25).
“We are not allowed to work outside the camp. Also the work facilities inside the camp are very limited. So, we are totally dependent on humanitarian organizations for our daily food assistance. If these abductions continue under the nose of strict law enforcement agencies in the camp, how can we arrange for such a huge amount of ransom money that we have never seen and counted before”, according to the general refugees.
The miscreants have become reckless day by day in the absence of strict vigilance despite the presence of heavy manpower of law and order forces in the camp. And so, civilian refugees are regularly being abducted and killed.
