The Myanmar military launched a series of airstrikes on civilian areas in Pauktaw Township on February 20, 2025, dropping more than 40 bombs and causing significant casualties. The attack, reportedly carried out by a Y-12 military aircraft at around 2:00 PM, primarily targeted the villages of Ale Phayonekar Kyun, Sintetmaw Kyun, and Pinnae Chaung Kyun.
Local witnesses described scenes of chaos and devastation. “People were running in all directions. The bombs hit both Rakhine and Muslim villages. Many houses were destroyed, and families are suffering,” said a resident from Pauktaw.

Confirmed casualties include:
- Daw Yine Thein Nu (60) and Ko San Myat Thu (28) from Sintetmaw Tautan Village.
- Ma Khin Thazin Moe (19) and Than Sein Aung (41) from Sintetmaw (Bawdalee) Village.
- Ko Kyaw Zeya (30) from the same village.
- Mata Pauk (30) from Sintetmaw (Muslim) Village.
According to Arakan Princess Media, additional locations hit by the military include Ngapi Kyun, Taung Chaung Village, Manyin Kine, and Thekhon Village, with bombs targeting homes, farms, and vital infrastructure. The total death toll remains uncertain as rescue and recovery operations continue.

The brutal airstrikes have left residents in urgent need of medical care and humanitarian assistance. Local communities are calling on international organizations and local authorities to intervene immediately, ensuring that those responsible for targeting civilians are held accountable under international law.
