Yesterday, the Myanmar police have arrested around 100 Rohingya Muslims from a house at Shwe Pyi Thar, Yangon.
The Tomorrow News Journal’s photos show, barefoot men and dozens of women in headscarves sitting on the ground in a courtyard.
A police captain named Tin Maung Lwin from Shwe Pyi Thar township affirmed the arrests and said: “The investigation is still ongoing.” He also added that 98 or 99 people had been arrested and they would be sent to a quarantine centre to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
Over the years, Rohingyas have faced restriction movements as the government treat them as “foreigners”.
