On Friday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sought Sri Lanka’s support for the sustainable, safe and voluntary repatriation of forcibly displaced Rohingyas from Myanmar’s Rakhine state to their homeland, Myanmar.
According to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Press Wing, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sought this support yesterday (Friday) when Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ali Sabri made a courtesy call at the Prime Minister’s official residence Ganabhaban.
While discussing regional and multilateral cooperation, Sheikh Hasina noted that the prolonged presence of forcibly displaced Rohingyas from Myanmar poses a serious threat to the overall socio-economic, environmental, and security systems of Bangladesh and the entire region.
Ali Sabri is visiting Bangladesh to attend the 22nd Ministerial meeting of Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).
