On 21 September 2022, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, have met at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel in the US.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called to the international community and United Nations to play an intensified role in solving the Rohingya crisis by repatriating the forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals to their motherland.
They also emphasized the activities of the UNHCR in Myanmar on Rohingya issues. Filippo Grandi said that he would visit Myanmar soon. The Prime Minister restated that repatriation is solution for the Rohingya crisis.
The UN High Commissioner agreed with her on the matter. They discussed in details the current activities of UNCHR in Bangladesh to help Rohingya.
