A Rohingya boy was killed in a tragic truck accident inside Camp 2W on Saturday, 11 January 2026, around 12:00 pm, according to local sources.
The child was identified as Anowar Saadik, 11, a resident of Camp 6, Block B. His father is Mohammed Edilis.
According to residents, the incident occurred when a truck struck the child inside the camp area. Anowar Saadik sustained critical injuries in the collision. People nearby immediately rushed him to the GK Primary Health Care Center in Camp 2W, where he received first aid.
Due to the severity of his condition, doctors referred him to Ukhiya Malaysia Hospital for further treatment. However, he later died from his injuries.
Community mourns loss
The death of the young boy has caused deep grief among his family and the wider Rohingya community. Neighbors and relatives gathered at the family’s shelter to offer condolences and share in the mourning.
Several camp residents said road accidents involving trucks and other vehicles have become an increasing concern inside the camps. They called for stricter control of vehicle movement and stronger safety measures to protect children and pedestrians.
Anowar Saadik’s family is now mourning the loss of their son, as the community remembers him with sorrow and prayers.
