Cox’s Bazar, October 31, 2025 — A 39-year-old Rohingya man named Abdu Shukkur was found dead this morning in a suspected case of suicide by hanging near the TV Tower area in Camp-2 East.
According to local residents, Abdu Shukkur was the head of a seven-member family living in Main Block (D), Sub-Block (D-04) of the camp. He was identified as the son of Sayad Alom.
Community members described him as a kind and responsible man devoted to his family. “He was a gentle person and always cared for his loved ones. We are deeply shocked by his death,” said one of his neighbors.
The reason behind the suspected suicide remains unclear. Camp officials have begun an investigation into the incident while community members mourn the loss and call for greater mental health support for refugees living under prolonged stress and hardship.
