A Rohingya man was seriously injured in a landmine explosion near the border area in Ukhiya on March 26, losing part of his leg, according to local sources.
The incident took place around 12:45 PM near Anjuman Para, close to the Naf River. The injured man, 25-year-old Mohammad Shahidul, is a resident of Rohingya Camp No. 16 in Ukhiya.
Officials said Shahidul had gone near the border area when the landmine exploded, causing severe injuries and leading to the loss of his right ankle.
Local residents rescued him and took him to a nearby hospital before he was transferred to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital for further treatment.
Authorities have warned people to avoid border areas where landmines are believed to remain active, posing ongoing risks to civilians.
