Today, Rohingya refugees from Cox’s Bazar marched with a peaceful procession to celebrate the signing of an agreement between the United Nations and Bangladesh which aims to work at Bhashan Char. Many refugees also distributed sweets to show friendly gestures after the procession.
Thousands of Rohingya refugees took part in the following procession led by Rohingya camp Majhis at Kutupalong Rohingya Camp 2 / East and Camp 17 in Ukhiya.
They chanted slogans thanking the Bangladesh government and the United Nations along with various placards, banners, festoons including “Welcome UN”, “Thank you Bangladesh” written by Rohingyas in the procession.
Mohammad Amin (38), a Rohingya from East Camp 2, who took part in the procession told Ajker Pothrrika, “We are happy to hear that the UN will work in Bhashan Char. We hope more Rohingyas will be interested in going to Bhashan Char now than before.”
