Today Rohingya youths and teenagers commemorated world handwashing day at block-E of camp 26 and held a session on how to wash hands properly, according to Mohammed Siraj, a refugee elder from block E of camp-26.
“Refugees are in a state of anxiety during COVID-19 period in the camps, as they have to dwell in the overpopulated area, and refugees need more awareness and guidance to protect themselves”, he added.
CODEC a national NGO working in the education sector in the camps provided the required materials to observe the day.
Habibur Rahman, a refugee youth told the Rohingya Khobor, “We encourage the community people to keep themselves and even their children neat and clean and to be hygienic so that they can stay free from COVID-19 and other diseases.”
Another refugee elder requested the NGOs and the authorities to find a holistic solution and to provide necessary hygiene materials especially soaps.
