On Monday late night, miscreants abruptly started shooting indiscriminately at block H 52 of camp 18 in Ukhiya, where bullets hit two female teenagers. One died on the spot and another one is under treatment at Cox’s Bazar hospital in critical condition.
The deceased has been identified as a minor who is the daughter of Mohammed Yasin, resident of block H-52, camp-18. The injured is the daughter of Mohammed Hussein of same camp. Further casualties yet be known.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday afternoon the police arrested 3 Rohingyas for their involvement in the incident. They are Dil Mohammad (32) of A/5 Block of Camp No. 18, Saiful (35) of G/7 Block and their associate Erfan (22) of A/5 Block. Among them, 2 are known to be registered criminals of the police headquarters.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhia Police Station Sheikh Mohammad Ali said that two teenagers were shot dead when unidentified terrorists opened fire in front of Yasin’s shed in H/52 Block of Camp 18 on Monday midnight.
“They were rescued and taken to MSF Hospital in Kutupalong and then to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where the on duty doctor declared Tasfia dead. Dil Kayes, the other bullet victim, is still under treatment in critical condition,” OC said and added that three men have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident. Police and APBN are conducting a joint operation to arrest the rest.
