The police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a Rohingya teenager named Mohammad Zahid Hossain (15) in Bhasanchar, due to previous enimity. The accused were handed over to the Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Friday (June 16) afternoon.

The deceased Mohammad Zahid Hossain is the son of the late Abdul Malek of cluster number 90 of Bhasanchar, Rohingya camp.

The arrested are Mohammad Qaiser (16) son of Dil Mohammad of cluster number 81 of Bhasanchar Asryan Project and Yusuf Jalal (16) son of Nurul Haque of cluster number 27.

According to the investigation, Qaiser and Yusuf killed Zahid by cutting his throat near the embankment of Bhasanchar Rohingya camp on the night of June 8.  On June 12, the police recovered the half-melted body of Zahid from the side of the embankment of Bhasanchar.  Later, while investigating the murder case filed by the victim’s brother Mostakim, the involvement of Rohingya teenagers Qaiser and Yusuf was found.  The accused were interrogated after their arrest. Both confessed their involvement in the murder.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhasanchar police station, Humayun Kabir said that the arrestees called Zahid near the embankment of Bhasanchar shelter project due to previous enmity.  Then both of them killed Zahid by cutting the veins of his neck, hands and feet.
