Rohingya refugees demonstrated in Nayapara and Kutupalong camp on Friday.
During the demonstration, the refugees chanted slogans and requested the world community not to forget the Rohingyas.
Hundreds of men and women took part in the demonstrations. This however drew the ire of Bangladeshi authorities that maintain a tight grip on the refugee population. Many of the demonstrators have been in hiding fearing arrests by Bangladesh police.
Bangladesh has come strongly in favour of the Myanmar government and has asked local and national media not to report on the plight of the Rohingyas. The border with Myanmar has been sealed and Muslim refugees, including those injured by military gunfire has been handed back to the Tatmadaw and Hlun Htein.
By contrast, Bangladeshi Rakhines have been allowed to move freely into Arakan. Many from Bangladesh have gone to join hands with anti Muslim groups in the restive state.
