KUTUPALONG, COX’S BAZAR – In a momentous gathering at Kutupalong Refugee Camp-1W, leaders and representatives from various Rohingya groups, including ARSA, RSO, ARA, and Islami Mahat, convened for the Unity Convention—a groundbreaking meeting aimed at bridging divisions and fostering solidarity. This historic assembly marked a critical step toward a unified effort to address the challenges facing the Rohingya community.

A Meeting of Hope and Resolve

The hall was filled with tension and hope as participants, long divided by differing ideologies and approaches, came together to forge a shared vision. Leaders recognized that the struggles of the Rohingya people—persecution, displacement, and the fight for justice—demanded collective action.

Opening the meeting, Mr. Aziz, a respected elder, expressed deep gratitude to the Bangladeshi government and humanitarian organizations for their continued support. His words set the tone for the day, emphasizing unity as the foundation for progress.

Voices of Leadership and Solidarity

Representatives from each group addressed the gathering, sharing their visions for the future:

  • An ARSA leader highlighted the importance of resilience and the need to reclaim their homeland with dignity.
  • An RSO representative emphasized collaboration, saying, “Division weakens us. Together, we are stronger and more capable of facing challenges.”
  • ARA urged the youth to step up as agents of change, declaring, “Our future lies in the hands of those willing to learn and lead.”
  • Islami Mahat called for moral and spiritual unity, emphasizing justice and compassion as guiding principles.

Personal stories of survival added depth to the discussions. Rohim Ullah, a refugee from Camp-12, shared his journey of loss and resilience, inspiring the audience with his determination.

Addressing Pressing Issues

The genocide of 2024, mass killings, and the ongoing struggle to preserve their identity in exile were central to the discussions. Youth leaders like Mujip, Sadek, and Sadam spoke passionately about the role of education and activism, urging everyone to see unity as the foundation for progress.

Hefzur Rohaman, a respected community leader, summarized the day’s sentiment:
“We are Rohingya—bound not just by our pain but by our hope. ARSA, RSO, ARA, Islami Mahat, and every one of us here have a role to play. Together, we are unstoppable.”

A Call to Action

The event concluded with a powerful speech by Dil Mohammed, the organizer of the Unity Convention. His words resonated deeply:
“For our movement to succeed, we need vision, leadership, commitment, and sacrifice. Without unity, our aspirations remain dreams. Together, we can transform those dreams into reality. Let us put aside our differences and focus on our shared goal of reclaiming our rights, our dignity, and our homeland. This is our moment to change our future through unity.”

The meeting ended with a unanimous pledge of solidarity, as participants chanted, “Unity is strength! Together, we will achieve! Insha’Allah.”

A New Era of Hope

The Unity Convention was more than just a meeting—it was a movement. It symbolized a new chapter for the Rohingya people, proving that even amidst adversity, unity could pave the way for a brighter future. The gathering stands as a beacon of hope, inspiring the community to rise above their struggles and reclaim their identity, dignity, and homeland.
