On Saturday ((29 April) in the afternoon, members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) shot a sub block leader at block D4 of Kutupalong camp 2E in Ukhiya.
The victim is Md Rashid, sub block leader of D4 of camp 2E.
An eye witness reported that on Saturday afternoon about 10-12 ARSA members attacked Rashid and shot him. The bullet went against Rashid’s head. He received bullet injury on head, while Rashid was talking outside a shop in block D4. Creating panic around the area, the attackers tried to lift up Rashid but the near by refugee women came forward and snatched Rashid from the hands of ARSA members. Police reached to the spot and rushed Rashid to the hospital.
It is learnt that since last few days Rashid along with his three colleagues were gathering block people to stand against those committing unfair acts in the camp and ruining the image of Rohingya community in the eyes International community.
Another refugee from the camp said that centering the people gathering, the ARSA members took Rashid away few days ago and beat him severely with hammers and fined him 50,000 taka. Finally, the ARSA hoodlums shot him with the intention of murder.
