A 17-year-old Rohingya boy was arrested in Fayrullah village of Buthidaung Township on March 19, according to local sources, raising concern and fear among residents in the area.
The boy has been identified as Md Ayas, son of Foyas Salam. Local sources said he was taken by members of the Arakan Army earlier in the day. The reason for the arrest remains unclear.
Rohingya villagers told Rohingya Khobor that the incident has created anxiety within the community, as families fear further detentions without explanation.
“We are very worried for the boy. He is still young and we don’t know why he was taken,” one villager said.
Another resident said, “Now we are living in fear. Anyone can be taken at any time without explanation.”
A third Rohingya source added, “His family is crying and waiting for any news. They just want to know if he is safe.”
Family members are seeking information about his condition and whereabouts but have not received any official update so far.
Local residents said such incidents are increasing in the area, contributing to growing uncertainty and fear in daily life.
