Ten Rohingya girls were reportedly arrested by the Arakan Army on 10 March in Khin Daung village of Buthidaung Township, according to local residents.
Sources from the village said members of the Arakan Army entered the area and took the girls to one of their camps. Families of the girls say they are deeply worried about their safety and do not know what will happen to them.
“They came to the village and took ten girls. We are very afraid because we do not know why they were taken,” a Rohingya resident told Rohingya Khobor.
Another villager said some families believe that paying money may prevent their daughters from being taken.
“People say that if a family can give money, their daughters may not be arrested or taken to the camp,” the resident said.
Many residents say fear is spreading across the village as parents worry about the safety of their daughters.
“We are very worried for our daughters. Families who are poor cannot pay money, and they fear their girls could also be taken,” a Rohingya elder told Rohingya Khobor.
Local residents said the situation has created uncertainty and anxiety within the community, with many families now trying to protect their daughters as much as possible.
At the time of reporting, there was no confirmed information about the condition or exact location of the detained girls.
