On Thursday, the MAYEKA (Myanmar Land officials) ordered locals to demolish their own homes at Murapara of Tha Pyay Gone, Buthidaung. They also mentioned that the central government will relocate these Rohingya inhabitants shortly.
The 20 families residing at Murapara requested a three month extension due to the monsoon season. In return, officials demanded 300,000 kyats from each family as extortion.
The directive coincides with others in the Buthidaung area that aim to relocate Rohingya Muslims in cramped IDP camps akin to open air prisons.
