On Wednesday (January 5) at around 2 pm, nine buses took 414 Rohingya from Ukhiya Degree College ground to Chittagong for Bhasanchar. this is the 9th batch to leave the refugee camps of Cox’s Bazar.
The process of taking Rohingyas to Bhasanchar has started for the second time after the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Refugee Management was signed in Bhasanchar between the UN refugee agency and the government.
Additional Relief and Refugee Repatriation Commissioner Shamsu Ddouja Nayan confirmed that a section of Rohingyas left Ukhiya for Bhasanchar.
Rohingyas and their families from various camps of Teknaf and Ukhiya had been taken to Ukhiya Degree College ground under the security of law enforcement agencies on Tuesday evening.
Some Rohingya refugees claim that the law enforcement agencies use internal influence to compel refugees to leave for Bhasanchar.
