“All excited and eager to learn something interesting but there is no teacher to take their classes” – This is the present scenario of Let Wai Dad and Pa Zu Chaung school. Unlike other schools, these schools are quite homogeneous. The hardship doesn’t end here, schools where majority students are Rohingyas are being deprived from education because of ethnic discrimination.
In Myanmar, most of the school teachers are Rakhines and recently government officials took some rigid actions against the young generation in order to turn them into an “extinct generation”, discouraging the teachers from going to Rohingya schools.
According to the locals, Rakhine parents do not wish to enroll their child where there are any Rohingya students. In some schools, names of Rakhine students been enrolled but in reality they don’t tend to study there. High school at Buthidaung have separate rooms for Rohingya and Rakhine students where they teach them separately.
Beside everything, the government is claiming gloriously that they are giving proper education to the Rohingya children. Truth is there are no teachers at Rohingya schools.
