On Friday at around 7 pm, locals arrested three Rohingya including women and children from Akter Mia Hat area of Mohammadpur Union of Upazila, while fleeing from Bhasanchar Rohingya Shelter Project in Noakhali and handed them over to the police.
During primary interrogation, they told the police that they had left Bhasanchar through brokers to go to Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar.
The detained Rohingyas are Manowara Begum (25) wife of Morfiq of cluster no.82 of Bhasanchar shelter center and her daughter Samira (8) Kaichar (1-3 months).
On the same day at around 11:30 p.m., the police brought the arrested Rohingyas to the police station.
Shimul Mahmud, a local resident, said that on Friday evening, a woman and two children were detained by the locals as they were roaming suspiciously in Aktar Mia Hat Bazaar area of Mohammadpur Union of Subarnachar Upazila.
After talking to them, it was confirmed that all of them had escaped from Hatyar Bhasanchar with the help of trawlers through brokers to go to Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar. After reporting to Charjabbar police station, the police arrested them and took them to the police station.
Charjabbar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Deb Priya Das confirmed the incident. He said, after talking to the higher authorities, legal action will be taken.
