Two separate fire incidents were reported in Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh on April 9, both brought under control without any reported casualties.
The first incident occurred in Camp 12, Sub Block G 1, where a fire spread through shelters and caused panic among residents. Community members and responders acted quickly to contain the flames. No serious injuries were reported, and the situation was later brought under control.
The second incident took place at around 7:00 p.m. in Block E of Nayapara Registered Rohingya Refugee Camp. A fire broke out in a garage located in front of an IRC hospital. The garage is reported to be owned by a Bangladeshi national.
According to local sources, Rohingya residents responded quickly and worked together to control the fire, preventing it from spreading further.
“The fire started suddenly, but people acted very fast and worked together to control it,” one witness said.
No casualties were reported in either incident.
Authorities and volunteers have advised residents to remain cautious and follow safety measures to reduce the risk of future fires.
