Two Rohingya girls were detained by members of the Arakan Army in Se Oo Zaa village of Buthidaung Township on Wednesday afternoon, according to local sources.
The incident took place around 2:00 PM. The two girls have been identified as 15-year-old Sabe Kunnaher, daughter of Md Saber, and 19-year-old Monowara, daughter of Mohammed.
Residents said the girls were taken from the village, but the reason for their detention remains unclear. Families and neighbours have expressed concern about their safety and are waiting for information about their whereabouts.
A Rohingya resident told Rohingya Khobor, “We are living in fear every day. Our daughters are not safe anymore, even inside our own village.”
Another villager said, “These girls are very young. Their families are crying and do not know where they have been taken.”
A local elder also described growing tension in the area, saying that such incidents have occurred before and that people feel there is no protection for civilians.
The situation in Buthidaung remains tense, with residents reporting ongoing fears over arrests and detentions. Community members are calling for the safe release of the two girls and greater protection for civilians.
