On Wednesday police arrested two Rohingya siblings, Razia Begum (18) and her brother Khairul Amin (20) from Mainaguri village in Helapakdi area of Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal for illegally entering to India in search of Razia’s husband.
On Wednesday afternoon, The villagers of Mainaguri arrested and handed them over to police while they were wandering on the village road.
During interrogation police discovered that the arrestees are from Cox’s Bazar refugee camp in Bangladesh and Begum’s husband fled the camp and took refuge in India. In search of husband, Begum and her brother went to India.
In the incident Jalpaiguri Superintendent of Police Biswajit Mahato said, “After initial interrogation, a request has been made to take the arrested to the Jalpaiguri court today and take them into custody.”
