Buthidaung, October 5, 2025:
In a heartbreaking incident, the bodies of two young Rohingya girls were found in Thabi Taung village of Buthidaung Township, Rakhine State, on October 3. The victims were identified as 13-year-old Omar Ulla and 8-year-old Romana, daughters of a local resident named Omar Ulla.
Tragic Discovery Near the Village
According to local sources, the two girls had gone to deliver food to their parents who were working in a nearby field on the western side of the village. They were last seen returning home around noon but never arrived. Family members began searching for them and found their bodies in a stream near the village around 2 pm the same day.
Community in Grief
The news has deeply shocked the local Rohingya community. “This is a tragic loss for our community. We are devastated by the death of these innocent children,” one villager told Rohingya Khobor. Another resident said, “We demand justice for these girls and hope that authorities will investigate this matter thoroughly.”
Unclear Cause of Death
The cause of death remains unknown, and local authorities have not yet issued any official statement. Residents say they are living in fear as insecurity continues to rise in Arakan State amid widespread violence and instability.
The community continues to mourn the loss of the two young lives, urging for accountability and protection for Rohingya civilians who remain vulnerable across Buthidaung and other areas under Arakan Army control.
