On September 21, 2023 the United States State Department announced another round of humanitarian aid funding of $116 million dollars “to support vulnerable populations in Burma, Bangladesh, and the region, including more than $74 million to support Rohingya refugees and their host communities” according to US State Department press release.
The United States is one of the largest donors to the crisis in the region with the new round of humanitarian aid totaling more than $2.2 billion since August 2017. Humanitarian assistance helps to cover, “safe drinking water, health care, protection, education, shelter, and psychosocial support” according to the press statement.
