On 31st day of the year 2022, Rohingya people organized a campaign with the slogan ‘Dignify Go Home’ at Lambasiya Rohingya camp in Kutupalong of Ukhiya, where they said, “We don’t want to be burden anymore to Bangladesh. We hope we can return to our ancestral Arakan in the year 2023.”
Acting Chairman of Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights (ARSPH) Master Zobair said in the gathering that when the New Year comes, people all over the world celebrate in their respective countries. But the Rohingyas do not have the opportunity to celebrate the New Year.
“In the coming days we want to celebrate the New Year in our native Myanmar. We request the international community to take effective measures to repatriate the Rohingyas,” he said by adding more that for the past five years, he has only shed tears with the hope of returning to native land.
The Rohingya leaders expressed their disappointment at the rally by saying that the new year comes and goes, but they don’t hear any message of returning home.
