A woman was critically injured after an informer with the Detective Branch (DB) of Bangladesh police kicked her in the stomach.
On Saturday at around 4pm, DB police guided by an informer named Rasel went to the house of Hasan Ahmed in the H Block of Nayapara refugee camp to arrest him. When his sister Sanowara protested the arrest of his elder brother, Rasel kicked her in the stomach, leading to serious injuries.
Rasel, son of an influential local leader named Bakkar member, has long been involved with robbery, but has recently become an informer for the DB. He has been known to harass well off Rohingya refugees for money.
The incident takes place as Bangladesh Border Guard pushed back around 400 Rohingyas trying to enter the country on Sunday.
