On Thursday, Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, “two and a half times more Yaba are entering Bangladesh than before since the Myanmar military coup.” Despite discussions with the Myanmar government, the military government there is alleged to be sponsoring Yaba smugglers.
This information was known from the meeting of the parliamentary committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs held in the National Parliament on Thursday.
The Home Minister said, ‘Yaba is entering Bangladesh through the inaccessible border in addition to the Naf River. Bandarban and Khagrachari have many inaccessible roads, where round-the-clock surveillance is not possible. It takes two days to go from one BOP (Border Out Post) to another BOP there. The number of BOP is being increased in all those areas.
