Yesterday, 49 Rohingya refugees were tested positive marking the highest number of cases in a single day.
Bangladesh’s Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) confirmed the number after testing over 312 Rohingya where 49 were found positive of COVID-19.
Five camps were put under complete lockdown while the rest have been kept under close monitoring.
RRRC Chief Coordinator Dr Abu Toha M.R. Bhuiyan told Anadolu Agency that, “Currently, 836 infected Rohingya are being quarantined, while the cumulative number of contacts quarantined to date is 3,361.”
Rohingya refugee camps are one of the densely populated camps in the world. It is almost impossible to keep and maintain social distancing amidst this crisis.
