On 4 September 2022, at around 7pm, 12 men and 5 women were arrested from a truck that was driving on the Gwa- Thandwe road nearby the Shaw Phyu Taung bridge in Thandwe District, Arakan state by a team of Myanmar military.
The 17 Rohingya were arrested while they are going to Yangon by a truck. From Yangon they were going to travel to Myawaddy and Thai border. From there, they would have been taken to Malaysia, according to the Arakan Express Network.
No response has been made by the UN or any governments regarding this issue yet.
