Yesterday, an Indian health official has confirmed that 20 out of 170 Rohingya Muslims detained in the jail of Kathua, Jammu tested positive for Covid-19.
An Indian medical officer, Swami Anjil told the reporters that, on Monday, during a routine health check-up, two detainees were found to have Covid-19 symptoms. About 80 detainees were subsequently tested and 20 were found positive, he added.
In March, 170 Rohingyas were detained by regional administration at a ‘holding centre’ set up under the Foreigners Act in the Hiranagar sub-jail of Kathua district of Jammu province while they had documents from the UNHCR.
