The Arakan Army has instructed Rohingya villagers in Buthidaung Township to dig caves near their homes for protection from possible airstrikes by the Junta, according to local sources.
The instruction was given during a meeting held at Taung Bazar at around 10:30 a.m. on April 2. Villagers from Ya Ma, Naran Chaung, Kenothi, Meen Gay Gyi, Daa Pyin Saya, and Phyin Daw Pyin attended the meeting.
“They told us to dig caves near our homes to stay safe if bombs are dropped,” one resident said.
Another villager said the situation is becoming increasingly tense. “We are very afraid because the situation is getting worse day by day,” the resident added.
During the meeting, the Arakan Army also imposed movement restrictions, warning residents not to travel between villages.
“They clearly told us that no one can leave their village. We feel trapped and worried about what will happen next,” another resident said.
Residents said fears are growing as tensions continue to rise across Rakhine State, with increasing restrictions affecting daily life and safety.
